In Decoraciones EGEA we have always been sensitized to actions aimed at leaving a better world for future generations. We are concerned about the environment and progress understood from the point of view of sustainability. For this reason, we are committed to joining projects such as the United Nations Global Compact, the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 12,500 signatories and a presence in more than 160 countries.
This great Pact is developed on a global scale and the companies that are part of it are committed, among other things, to preserve the environment from the areas in which we develop our activity. In our sector, dedicated to the decoration of interior and exterior spaces, we believe that we can contribute a lot and above all learn more in techniques and actions aimed at preserving our environment. Because it is not enough to be aware that the planet needs fresh air, it is time to take action and be responsible with the world around us.
In our company, which employs more than 100 workers, the basis of our activity is based on textiles and with which we have grown from the beginnings in which the main activity we carried out was weaving to currently become an important hotel renovation company, both in interiors and exteriors, we have always been clear that large-scale production should not be incompatible with sustainability.
For this reason, we have prioritized working with fabrics created from recycled materials because their reuse considerably reduces energy and water consumption, thus contributing to the problems created by waste management. We support all the initiatives of our distributors whose priority is to combat plastic pollution in our seas and to preserve natural resources and keep the oceans cleaner. That is why we work closely with companies such as Mash, Jover or Guell la Madrid, because their quality seal includes environmental welfare.
Committing to sustainability should be everyone's responsibility because we are consuming the scarce resources we have left to maintain a clean planet. As Business Insider reported a few years ago, more carbon is emitted by the textile industry than is produced by aviation and international shipping combined. Therefore, for all of us, for future generations and out of respect for the place where we live, we should all, from our possibilities, value the importance of improving the quality of life through the recovery of our environment.
