The responsibility lies with each one of us. It is up to us to limit the spread of the virus that has us all in a state of alarm since the beginning of the health pandemic. At Decoraciones EGEA we are very aware of this and we know that if each one of us does our part, if each person is respectful of the space they live in and also contributes to improving the situation in general, we will be able to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.
Therefore, since the health crisis stalked Spain and we had the obligation to confine ourselves, in Decoraciones EGEA we decided not to fold our arms and work harder to find solutions that could alleviate the fear that gripped us all. We had it clear, to our already known line of work, textile decoration and hotel renovations, we were going to add a new field that had nothing to do with our business but was closely related to our philosophy of life; working for and with others, giving the best of us and always to promote and improve the quality of life of our customers.
As we have been working in the textile industry for more than 30 years, we thought it would be easy to find that combination of fabrics and safety. Therefore, and thanks to the collaboration of one of our suppliers, Bitex, we decided to go for textile finishes that would prevent the colonization, proliferation and penetration into the fabric of different viruses and thus avoid the possible chain of infection with viruses such as influenza or coronavirus.
From there we got down to work. We made national and international media headlines for being the first company to develop this textile finish. Bitex was manufacturing it and we gave it the impetus to make it known to society. What the Hygienitex finish does is to kill, within two hours, the infected particles that could be deposited on fabrics such as curtains, sheets, bedspreads, quilts, comforters or upholstery. This is a real novelty for hotels, restaurants, stores or establishments in any sector that serve the public.
But undoubtedly in the health sector is a must because it is the best way to put a retaining wall for both health workers and patients. The Hospital Comarcal de Inca was the first hospital in the Balearic Islands to equip its hospital with curtains with this finish. The Head of Section of the Digestive Service, José Reyes, has shown his satisfaction with the replacement of curtains in his department and has encouraged other hospitals to do the same because the bactericidal capacity makes the environment safer at a sanitary level.
